Former bandmates J.R. Ross and Travis McGuire (Dead Strangers, Octopus Rex, Roky Erickson) reconnected by trading demos to each other in the spring of 2018. Not wasting anytime, the longtime friends and collaborators recruited drummer, Devin White. Thus, Pretty Little Thieves were born, making their stage debut New Year's Eve that year, followed by a quick succession of explosive house shows.
After a packed 2019 SXSW exhibition, the band decided it was time to record and enlisted renowned producer Danny Reisch (Good Danny's) for their first two singles I’M YOUR ENEMY and DEATH OF ANTON NEWCOMBE. In 2020, the band called up their old friend, Jason Richard of Clockright Studio to engineer a set of songs for their debut EP, “Half”. 2021 is bringing the band back to the stage in support of these recordings which fans are already calling a perfect soundtrack to the summer after a sullen year in quarantine.
The Thieves are hungry to resume pummeling Austin’s live scene with a sound that is infused with 60s psych, 70s power pop and 90s swagger. Expect catchy hooks, hard hitting rhythms and gang harmonies; and expect to feel alive again. Pretty Little Thieves will never disappoint…
but they may steal your heart.
